I want to give you some options to help you nail meal planning.
One way is to set aside a-day where you plan out general meals for the week, go shopping, prep and cook all your food storing them already individually portioned out if you want ( set aside about 2 to 3 hours to accomplish this.) This is the way I usually meal plan for the week allowing myself to shift to the left or right if my schedule dictates.
Another way would be to prep staple items mainly protein ahead of time, then on a day-to-day basis prep your side dishes. I find that this works best for the individual that has a family as it allows options for kiddos with varying taste day-to-day.
Finally for the individual with a very busy schedule don’t fret you can still meal plan without all the headache of having to prep and cook everything yourself. If you haven’t noticed most grocery stores now have pre cooked meals, protein sources, prepped veggies, and salad bars that offer healthy options for the person always on the move.
An important thing to remember is keep it simple and do what works for you. I find myself mixing some of these options up as my schedule changes week to week. Have fun planning your future meals and remember you are doing this for you and your family to have a healthier and better life.
